Sahu reviews preparation of District Disaster Management Plan

JAMMU, Apr 18: Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu today convened a meeting to review the action taken reports and preparations of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of all concerned stakeholders in the District Disaster Management Agency.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner was apprised about departmental wise/sector wise preparations besides holding detail deliberations on the disaster management plans, internal SOP’s prepared by the stakeholders.
Regarding procurements of various necessary equipments to make Emergency Operating Centre (EOC) functional, Deputy Commissioner directed to constitute a committee to look into the detail, prepare complete plan and furnish the same within the shortest possible time.
Mr. Sahu impressed upon the officers to sensitize the general masses about the uses and importance of First Aid Kit, adding that every office should also maintain the same as a precautionary measure.
He enjoined upon the concerned to put in place effective and prompt strategies for combating the situation which arises during man made or natural disasters.
Laying stress on holding of mock drills, Deputy Commissioner said that such preparedness plays a vital role for timely action and precautions in case of a mishap.
Directions were issued to all the hotels and educational institutions to prepare their foolproof safety plans to cater any emergency during disaster.
The main focus of the meeting was to share Disaster Management Plan with all departments to ensure quick response to any eventuality besides taking stock of preparedness regarding rescue, relief and rehabilitation for disaster affected people.
