JAMMU, Oct 30: Youth of Saini community today opposed the decision of J&K Government for granting OBC status to the Saini community.
In this connection, a day-long convention was organized at Arnia which was chaired by Pritam Singh Saini, president of All Jammu Kashmir Saini Sabha.
Addressing the convention, Pritam Singh Saini said that the Sabha is wholeheartedly standing with the decision of youth of the Community. He said that the Government has granted OBC status to the Saini community but the youth of Saini community was least interested in getting OBC status.
While extending support to the decision of youth, Pritam Singh Saini said, “Our youth are in no way less talented than other youth of the country. The community youth are highly competitive and have already made our community proud by performing excellently in tough competitions in every sector be it Government job, civil services, sports, education, medical, engineering, etc.”
Pritam Singh said that our community youth are inspired with the slogan of ‘Make in India’ given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he wants to make India self reliant. “Such type of reservation may lower down the morale of youth of our community though which we cannot accept at any cost,” he said.
Emphasizing that reservation should only be accorded to economically weaker sections of the society, he said that they categorically oppose the inclusion of the Saini community in the OBC/OSC list and demand the immediate withdrawal of the community from the list.
Among others present in the convention were Tara Chand Saini (general secretary), Ramesh Saini, Sukhdev Singh, Haqequat Singh, Anil Saini, Sarpanch Subash Saini, Devraj Saini Naib Sarpanch, Yashpal Saini, Rajeev Saini, Ashwani Saini, Rahul Saini, Vikram Saini and Swarnjeet Singh.
