Sainik Samaj Party discusses Domicile Law, its ramifications

JAMMU, May 25: Sainik Samaj Party (SSP), J&K discussed new Domicile Law of the Jammu & Kashmir and its ramifications on UT and its people, in a meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the party held today under the chairmanship of Col SS Pathania, president of the party.
The CWC members also deliberated in detail about the policy and role of the party with regard to new Domicile Law. Inter alia other issues, the committee unanimously approved the appointment of Lt General PS Mehta as military and political advisor of the party.
Lt Gen (retired) PS Mehta, a second generation army officer was commissioned into an elite Cavalry Regiment on September 2, 1978 and retired from the service on August 31, 2017. During his 40 years in the army, he with his persevering industriousness and sinuous competence, rose to be the First Sikh Lt General from Kashmir Valley since independence and has the distinction of commanding a strike formation.
An alumnus of Presentation Convent School Srinagar, he steered a National Level Seminar on “Jammu & Kashmir – The Way Ahead” in May 2017 in Delhi. The seminar report had generated viable Policy Options for Kashmir. The same was forwarded to National Security Council of India. He has been very actively providing real time recommendations to all concerned in Delhi and State towards normalization and resolution of the issue.
He has held many important assignments and appointments viz Deputy Chief of the HQ Integrated Defence Staff New Delhi and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Think Tank Organisation United Services Institute, New Delhi. He has been Deputy Director General Military Operations at Army Headquarters, wherein he handled complex/dynamic situations on the line of Control and International Borders.
