JAMMU, Dec 10: Saint Shivraj Singh Shekhawat, who as a part of its ‘Bharat Pad Yatra’ reached Jammu today, appealed Jammu and Kashmir administration to built at least 15-20 ‘Gaushalas’ in the Union Territory.
Saint Shekhawat raised this demand during a press conference organized today at Jammu. He was accompanied by Rajkumar Gupta (Jammu province president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and chairman of Gauraksha Samvardhan Samiti). Shekhawat was in Jammu as a part of its ‘Bharat Pad Yatra’, which started last year on December 11 from Rameshwaram, to protect mother cow and declare it as National Animal.
Addressing media persons, Shekhawat and Rajkumar Gupta said that during Yatra which will last for about 2 years, Char Dham and 12 Jyotirlingas will also be visited. “The purpose of this yatra is to get recognition at the national level for mother cow and impose complete ban on cow slaughter. On the occasion, both Shekhawat and Gupta demanded J&K administration to built at least 15 to 20 ‘Gaushalas’ which should be operated by the Government itself.
Shekhawat disclosed that today he will proceed to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine as part of his Pad Yatra and will request Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board to use Rs 520 crore which it gives to J&K Government, to operate ‘Gaushalas’. He appealed the civilized society to keep cows in their own homes and not leave them on the streets to wander. “Don’t consider cows only as source of milk, 33 crore deities reside in mother cow, which is also mentioned in our religious books,” he asserted.
