SRINAGAR, Aug 16: Minister for Social Welfare Sakina Itoo today distributed pension cards among 400 beneficiaries of widows, old age pension holders and physically challenged persons of district Kulgam.
These cards were handed over to the beneficiaries at a function held at Chawalgam in district Kulgam.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the present Government is providing monthly pension to more than 5 lakh people belonging to downtrodden, BPL families, widows and other needy and poor persons under various social welfare schemes. She said the Government under the stewardship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is making every effort to provide financial assistance to those sections of the society especially living in remote and far-flung areas for their upliftment. She asked the people to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes launched for their welfare.
Among other, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Gulzar Ahmed Shabnam, SP and senior officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
