Sakina for speedy repair, replacement of power infrastructure

JAMMU, June 16: Social Welfare Minister Sakina Itoo today exhorted upon the officers to be prompt in repair and replacement of damaged transformers and related infrastructure so that people may not suffer in these scorching days as almost all of the basic services depend on power supply.
“All the departments should remain prepared in advance to cope up with hot weather conditions in Jammu division in a total pragmatic and professional manner”, the Minister maintained.
Sakina also emphasized for close liaison between Power Development Department (PDD), Public Health Engineering (PHE) and other concerned departments to further streamline services and maintain public utilities.
The Minister said this while chairing a high level meeting of senior officers of various departments convened to review the functioning of PDD, PHE, Tourism, RD, I&FC, Health, Traffic, Police  and other concerned departments besides taking stock of arrangements being put in place for Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
The meeting was attended by SE, PDD, and other senior officers of concerned departments.
Sakina took stock of status of ration supply, power and water supply in Poonch, Doda and other districts of the region and asked the officers to make sure that the people get basic services in a total hassle free manner.
The Minister asked PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the region especially rural areas in view of sowing season. She was informed that due to overloading the people have to face frequent unscheduled power cuts but the situation is being tackled.
The Minister was informed that to cater to the need of water scarce areas adequate number of water tankers have been pressed into service so that the people are not deprived of this vital amenity.
The Minister asked the Irrigation and Flood Control authorities to make functional all the defunct irrigation tube-wells/bore-wells, pump sets, by replacing the damaged transformers, motors and also ensure irrigations facilities through Ranbir canal up to tail end.
Sakina also took stock of law and order situation in Jammu division besides assessing arrangements being made by the civil administration for comfortable stay of Amarnathji Yatra pilgrims.
