JAMMU, Jan 24: Saksham, a prominent social organization committed to empowering persons with disabilities (divyangs), organized a special program at Ambphalla, to celebrate its achievements and outline future plans.
The event was graced by RSS Prant Pracharak Rupesh Kumar as chief guest and Saksham’s National joint secretary Abhay Pargal as a key speaker. Several dignitaries, volunteers, and beneficiaries were present, reflecting the organization’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and improving the quality of life for divyangs.
Since its inception in 2015 in Jammu and Kashmir, Saksham has been addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by divyangs. It has organized seminars, awareness campaigns, and community events to promote social inclusion and provide a platform for divyangs to share their experiences.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Saksham supported vulnerable families by distributing blankets, medicines, and providing medical guidance with the help of over 50 doctors. The organization also operates an ambulance service in district Reasi, ensuring timely medical aid in remote areas. Its notable achievements include organizing the Netra Kumbh at Prayagraj, where over 5,000 lenses were distributed, along with free medical checkups and medicines. Saksham also established two eye banks in J&K, successfully implanting more than 30 corneas.
On this occasion, Saksham prant prachar parmukh Satish Singh Manhas presented his book, “Relook India” to Prant Pracharak Rupesh Kumar and Saksham sangathan mantri for north India Swami Vishwanathan.
Speaking at the event, Rupesh Kumar highlighted the importance of community participation in building an inclusive society. He emphasized the role of organizations like Saksham in bridging the gap between divyangs and mainstream society, urging stakeholders to extend their support to such noble causes.
The program concluded with inspiring messages from Saksham’s leadership, including Swami Vishwanathan, reiterating their commitment to expanding initiatives. Plans for the future include strengthening healthcare services, advocating for divyang rights, and organizing inclusive events.
