Salman Khurshid to inaugurate 3-day International Conference at KU on June 29

SRINAGAR, June 25: The Centre of Central Asian Studies (CCAS), University of Kashmir, Srinagar, and Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), Chandigarh, are jointly holding an International Conference on “Cooperative Development, Peace and Security in Central Asia: Challenges and Prospects” from June 29 to July 1, 2013.
Salman Khurshid, Union Minister for External Affairs, is inaugurating the conference at Gandhi Bhawan, KU while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will deliver a special address.
Governor N N Vohra, is presiding over the inaugural session. The Valedictory Address on July 1 will be delivered by Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
Giving details Dr Tareak A Rather, Coordinator Conferences CCAS said the interdisciplinary international conference is being attended by the delegates from all over the world. The conference is being organized to facilitate contemporary dialogue on this vital and significant region of Asia, the Central Asian region, he added.
The purpose of this International Conference, said Prof Aijaz A Bandey, Direcor CCAS, is to pool our resources in the form of information, knowledge and experience to develop a long term perspective, vision of cooperative development, peace and security in Central Asia with a special focus on challenges and prospects.
