JAMMU, Aug 28: The J&K unit of Samajwadi Party today claimed that the party is going to release list of candidates for J&K Assembly elections and also come out with its manifesto shortly.
Talking to media persons, the newly inducted party president for J&K, Jia Lal Verma, flanked by other office bearers said that party will contest on some seats in the Assembly elections and the list of the candidates will be released soon. He said the main focus of the party will remain on Jammu region. But on few Kashmir seats the party may field its candidates.
Verma further said that Party is working on its manifesto for J&K elections and it will also be released shortly. He said the party will take care of the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have suffered a lot after abrogation of Article 370 and creation of two Union Territories.
He said the major issue of Jammu and Kashmir is special status previously enjoyed by the people of this grand old state, which reflects the culture and identity of the erstwhile state. It is crucial to maintain its special status and address its significance.
The other concern is shift in terrorism towards Jammu. This has posed threat to the lives of the people of this region. The rising unemployment is yet another serious issue. The educated youth is frustrated today. They are moving towards drugs as there are no jobs and they are going to be over aged. This government disregarded the labour laws & the workers class is facing exploitation.
Restoration of Statehood to the Jammu and Kashmir is the major issue and the people of Jammu and Kashmir region want status of State to be restored to Jammu and Kashmir which has been reduced to UT. Verma appealed to the people to support Samajwadi party candidates in Assembly elections.
