JAMMU, Dec 23: A classical music workshop was held in Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana, Jammu by SaMaPa marking the concluding session for the year 2015.
Jagdeep Kaur and Amarjot Kaur accompanied by Chanchal Singh and Sukhmani from SaMaPa conducted the workshop.
The aim of the workshop was to bring awareness amongst the students about the basics of Indian classical music and how learning this art of music can enhance the development of a child.
Students were taught the basics of Indian classical tradition through Power Point presentation. Emphasis was given on voice cultural, Swar lagan, Swar shuddhi through Swar sadhna.
The students were also briefed on certain technical aspects of raga system like the formation of Thaats and Ragas out of the seven notes. The students were also taught a Bandish in Raga Bhopali. The workshop was attended by a large number of students of different age groups and members of the administration. The workshop commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. Trustee Ruchi Charak and Principal Anita Bhatia expressed their gratitude to SaMaPa for organizing the workshop at the school.
