Anand Farms dismantled at Vijaypur

SAMBA, Mar 13: Contin-uing the anti encroachment drive, the district administration Samba under the overall supervision of District Development Commissioner, Samba, Rohit Khajuria today demolished Anand Farms- the Banquet Hall which was reportedly constructed on State land at Village Rehkri in tehsil Vijaypur.
Giving details of exercise an official spokesman informed that 15 Kanals of prime State land adjoining the National Highway 44 worth crores of rupees was encroached upon and an illegal banquet hall was operating under the proprietary Anand Farms there. The Revenue Department after due verification submitted the report to Deputy Commissioner, Samba who issued the orders for restoration of State land by demolishing the Banquet Hall, spokesman added.

During the anti encroachment drive five JCB machines were pressed into the service and various structures on the encroached land were demolished including the main entrance gate, boundary walls, Banquet Hall, multiple rooms, parking area and other concrete structures.
The encroachment drive was carried out by a joint team of Revenue and police officers headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate, Vijaypur, C P Kotwal, besides tehsildar Samba Avtar Jasrotia was also present.
Official sources said that district administration has decided to tighten its noose on encroachers and land mafia in the district by removing all the encroachments on State and other land belonging to Government. Some more areas in the district have been identified by the district administration where the State land has been encroached by some people after constructing big mansions there. Sources said that no body will be spared how influential they may be, found involved in grabbing the State land in case they fail to remove the encroachments on their own.
When contacted SDM Vijaypur, Chander Parkash Kotwal said that the administration removed the encroachment from the State land during a drive launched today. He said the proprietor of Anand Farms have themselves admitted that the construction was made by them on State land and they had themselves started dismantling some structures earlier but later stopped the same which forced the administration to launch the drive today and restore the land to the State.
He said after removing the encroachments a board has been installed in the land that it belongs to the State. Kotwal said the administration will not allow the encroachment of the State land and where ever it has been grabbed by the encroachers in the past will be restored soon.
