SAMBA, May 14: District Samba has started distributing food grains under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yogana (PM-GKAY), which is aimed at providing free additional 5 kg food grain per month to beneficiaries covered under National Food Security Act over and above their monthly entitlement for two months, May and June, the Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta said on Friday.
The DC also said that under the PM-GKAY scheme 1.58 lakh beneficiaries will be benefited in the district through 125 government sale depots.
While elaborating on the steps taken by Department of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affair, Assistant Director Mukhter Ahmed, said there are 41 thousand approx Ration card holders in Samba district who will be provide 5 kg food grains additional through govt. sale depots. He also said the standing instructions regarding covid-19 SOPs are being strictly followed at each sale depot. TSO, ration dealers and staff of FCS&CA have been strictly advised to follow covid-19 appropriate behaviour and marking proper demarcation of standing positions at the distributions outlets. “Migrant population can also avail the benefits of the scheme through ‘one nation one ration card’ he added.
