SAMBA, Sept 15: Due to continuous rain for the last three days, local people, school children and the office goers are facing lot of problems after the closure of road due to debris at various places on Samba -Mansar road.
Due to heavy rain in the early hours of Friday morning, the road remained blocked for about two and a half hours. All the school going children, local people, trucks on way to Kashmir and Pathankot, office goers have to face a tough time due to closure of road. A lot of debris from a drain got accumulated on the road near village Daboh after which the road became totally slushy and many vehicles got stuck in debris. School children are facing a lot of problem due to the closure of road and long queues of vehicles are seen on both sides of the road as traffic jam remained for hours together.
The jam only added after Traffic Police swung into action.
This problem has been going on continuously for the last three days because the road remains closed every day during the rains and the movement of vehicles starts only after the rain stops.
Samba Mansar road is under the Roads and Buildings Department hence people have lot of resentment against the Department. They alleged that the Department does not remove the debris from the middle of the road due to which this situation has arisen.
The locals said the same problem occurs every rainy season. There are many spots on this road where it gets blocked for several hours due to debris, but the Department does not take any notice due to which our people have to face a lot of problem. Many times the officials of the Department have been informed about this but to no avail they added.
Vijay Kumar Attri, Executive Engineer, Roads and Buildings, Samba said that there are many small and big drains on this road, which are inundated during rainy season. The biggest problem is of the drain located near village Daboh. When in spate during rainy season it brings debris along which gets stacked on the road resulting in road blockade. The Department removes the debris but as there is heavy rain fall during Monsoon the problem recurs often, he added.
