Samba Police arrests 2 drug peddlers

SAMBA, Aug 22: In its continuous drive against the drug menace, a Police party of P/S Bari-Brahmana headed by ASI Mohan Lal under the supervision of Yashpal Singh Jamwal, SHO Police Station Bari-Brahmna during a routine checking near SIDCO Chowk Bari Brahmana recovered 1.5 kgs of Bhuki.
According to police while stopping one truck bearing Registration No.5214/RJ-31GA today at 1600 hours the police found 1.50 kg of Bhuki which was hidden in the cabin of the vehicle. The police seized the contraband and the vehicle while the driver of the truck namely Gurdeep Singh S/o Jagroop Singh resident of W.No. 09, Saddapati Jaitoo Mandi, Tehsil and District Fareedkot, Punjab and the driver was arrested. A case under FIR No.106/2016 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused driver at P/S Bari-Brahmana and the investigation taken up.
Police said recently it was reliably learnt at Police Post Supwal that one Manik Sharma S/o Bushan Lal Sharma R/o Supwal, Age 33 years is selling some drugs to the youth of nearby areas at Nanak Chack, near Railway Bridge. While acting swiftly, a police party of PP Supwal headed by SI Surinder Singh Nagra rushed to the spot. However, on seeing the police party, the said Manik Sharma tried to flee from the spot but was given a sharp chase and was apprehended by the said police party on spot. Upon his personal search 3 grams of Smac and 28 gms of Charas was recovered from his possession and the same was seized. Accordingly, case under FIR No. 132/2016 U/S 8/20/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered against the said accused person at P/S Samba and investigation started.
