Samba police arrests 4 receivers of stolen property

SAMBA, Oct 26: Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba Benam Tosh, Samba Police has launched crackdown against dishonest receivers/retainers of stolen property and arrested four for purchasing costly stolen items at nominal rates having reason to believe the same to be stolen property.
The arrested dishonest receivers of stolen property have been identified as Sahil Hussain, son of Raham Ali of Sunkhal tehsil Hiranagar district Kathua, Pyara Lal, son of Sant Ram of Chatroo Chingam Kishtwar at present, Telli Basti Bari Brahmana, Mukesh Kumar, son of Bishamber Dass of Mandi Pushwalian at present Rakh Amb Talli Samba and Abhinash of Samba.
The arrests were made under the overall supervision and directives of SSP Samba Benam Tosh.
Three separate cases FIR No.254/2023 U/S 379 IPC & case FIR No.251/2023 U/S 457,380 IPC have been registered at Police Station Samba and case FIR No.246/2023 U/S 379 IPC registered at Police Station, Bari Brahmana.
The dishonest receivers of stolen property have been arrested by the Police teams headed by SHO Police Station, Samba, Daljit Singh, SHO Police Station, Bari Brahmana, Sumit Sharma and PSI Davinder Singh under the supervision of DySP, Garu Ram, SDPO, Rahul Nagar and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba said that dishonestly receiving or retaining stolen property, having knowledge or reasons to believe the same to be stolen property, is punishable under law with imprisonment or fine or both and Police can arrest dishonest receivers of stolen property without warrant. People should immediately inform Police if any suspected person is found offering to sell costly items at far lower rates.
