Samba police arrests bovine smugglers, rescues 20 animals

SAMBA, May 2: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, J&K Police has foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba, arrested bovine smugglers and rescued 20 bovines from their clutches.
Police said a team of Police Post (PP), Mansar headed by Incharge Police Post has foiled bovine smuggling attempt, arrested bovine smuggler and rescued 16 bovines which were being smuggled by foot via Mansar-Surinsar road. All the rescued bovines have been shifted to safer place.
The arrested bovine smuggler has been identified as Jarea, son of Kasam of Jatwal Ghagwal district Samba.
A case FIR No. 123/2024 U/S 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
Likewise, a police party of Police Post (PP) Rakh Amb Talli headed by Incharge PP, during vehicle checking at special Naka established at Chack Dayala, signalled to stop a Mahindra Bolero pick up bearing Registration Number JK19A-1687 for its checking. The driver instead of stopping the vehicle accelerated the speed and hit the vehicle with road divider causing an accident. On checking, four bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
A case FIR No.122/2024 U/S 188/279 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station (PS) Samba and investigation started.
