SAMBA, Dec 20: In a major success against the absconders/criminals, Samba police apprehended a hardcore criminal absconding in two heinous criminal cases registered at Police Station (PS) Vijaypur and was also wanted/involved in multiple criminal cases registered at Police Station Samba, Police Station Vijaypur and Police Station Ramgarh.
Police said its team headed by SHO Vijaypur under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba apprehended an absconder namely Fareed Ali son of Lal Hussain of Rakh Barotian, tehsil Vijaypur district Samba in case FIR No. 111/2018 U/S 307/452/323/147 RPC and FIR No. 08/2021 U/S 376-D/323/366/504 IPC registered at PS Vijaypur.
Police said he was one of the main accused in sensational gang rape case of PS Vijaypur and was also involved in attacks on the police party at Rakh Barotian Vijaypur. After hectic efforts, Police arrested the absconder who was evading arrest after the commission of the crime, police added.
The accused is a hardcore criminal against whom multiple criminal cases have been registered at different Police Stations of district Samba which includes,FIR No. 111/2018 U/S 307/452/323/147 RPC of PS Vijaypur, FIR No. 08/2021 U/S 376-D/323/366/504 IPC of PS Vijaypur, FIR No. 106/2021 U/S 353/332/336/147/506 IPC of PS Vijaypur, FIR No. 99/2021 U/S 307/452/323/436/506 IPC of PS Vijaypyur, FIR No. 90/2016 U/S 341/323/382/506 RPC of PS Samba, FIR No. 78/2021 U/S 188 IPC 11 PCA Act of PS Samba, FIR No. 262/2024 U/S 109/132/121(1)/125/324(4)/191(3) BNS 4/25 Arms Act 3/4 PDPP Act of PS Samba, and FIR No. 69/2018 U/S 341/323/34 RPC of PS Ramgarh.
Accordingly, the absconder will be produced in the court of law and the arrest warrants U/S 512 CrPC issued against him will be executed, police added.
SSP, Samba Varinder Manhas said that the police has launched a massive drive against the criminals, bovine smugglers and drug peddlers in the district to avert the criminal activities so that peaceful atmosphere in the area is not disturbed.
He warned strict action against the people indulging in drug trafficking, bovine smuggling and other criminal activities and also sought the cooperation of people in this regard.
