SAMBA, Sept 29: Continuing its campaign against drug smugglers and their campaigners,
District Police Samba has arrested a drug smuggler and seized 23 kg of Bhukki from him.
A police party from Mansar while doing regular vehicle checking signaled a Swift car HR37D-3475, which was coming from Kashmir side and was going towards Samba via Udhampur-Mansar road to stop.
During the checking of the vehicle, 37 polythene bags were found, which contained a total of 23 kg of Bhukki, which was hidden inside the car to avoid checking by the police.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son Ramesh Lal resident of Jalandhar, Punjab, who was arrested on the spot. The prohibited material including the vehicle was seized and police registered a case under 290/2021 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act and started further investigation.
