Samba police foils bovine smuggling bid

SAMBA, Feb 17: Samba police today foiled bovine smuggling attempt in early morning hours in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal, arrested two bovine smugglers, rescued four bovines and seized vehicle used in the illegal transportation of bovines.
A police team of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, signalled to stop a Mahindra Load Carrier without number coming from Kathua side for checking. But the driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed in order to flee away from the spot and hit the vehicle with barrier. The alert cops intercepted the vehicle and during checking four bovines were found inside it which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally, police said.
The bovine smugglers identified as Adil Hussain, S/o Mohammad Beeru of Mai Chak district Kathua and Talab Hussain, son of Mir Hussain of Mai Chak district Kathua have been arrested and vehicle seized. All the rescued bovines have been shifted to a safer place.
A case FIR No. 20/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, 3 PDPP Act has been registered at Police Station, Ghagwal and investigation started.
