Samba Police rescue 14 bovines

2 vehicles seized, one smuggler arrested

SAMBA, Apr 26: District Police Samba today foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines at different places across the district.  The Police team rescued 14 bovines and arrested a smuggler in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal.
On reliable information, a Police team of P/S Ghagwal rescued four bovine animals and apprehended one smuggler who was transporting the animals on foot   from village Badaa Rattanpur Tehsil Ghagwal towards Kashmir without any valid permission from concerned DM. In this regard a case FIR No. 61/2022 U/S 188/IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered and investigation started.
Acting on information received from reliable sources, another Police party of PS Ghagwal signalled a Mahindra vehicle bearing Registration No PB10BY/0788 to stop for checking at Naka Tapyal. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the vehicle but was successfully chased by alert cops within a few metres away from Naka Point.
After checking the vehicle, five bovine were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in an inhumane manner. In this connection, a case FIR No. 62/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal.
Similarly, a Police party of PS Ghagwal rescued five more bovines at Naka Tapyal, Ghagwal which were being transported illegally in a Mahindra load carrier bearing Regd. No. JK14E/3517. In this regard, a case FIR No. 63/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
