Samba police rescues 15 bovines, seizes 2 vehicles

SAMBA, Mar 21: District police Samba has foiled three attempts to smuggle bovines during the intervening night of 19/20 March in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal and rescued 15 bovines .
Acting on an information received from reliable sources regarding illegal transportation of bovines, a police party of PS Ghagwal at Naka Tapyal, signaled to stop one Mahindra vehicle bearing Registration Number PB02CR-6873 for checking.
On checking the vehicle, five bovine were found laden inside and were tied in a cruel manner for their transportation.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 42/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal.
In second incident, a police party of PS Ghagwal rescued five more bovines at Naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal which were being transported illegally in a Mahindra vehicle with Registration Number JK02CA-4239.
A case FIR No. 43/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal.
Similarly in third incident of bovine smuggling, a police party of Police Post (PP) Rajpura during surprise Naka checking at Lalachak, Ghagwal noticed some persons moving with herd of cattle under suspicious conditions.
On seeing the police party, the suspected persons taking advantage of darkness fled away from the spot leaving behind five cattle which were being smuggled illegally.
All the cattle in the three incidents were rescued and shifted to safer places. Both the vehicles used for transportation of bovines were also seized on the spot.
