SAMBA, Feb 5: In continuation to its drive against bovine smuggling, district police Samba successfully foiled three attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 15 bovines in three separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Ghagwal and Samba.
A police party of PS Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, signalled to stop a Mahindra vehicle having Registration Number JK08B-8636 which was coming from Kathua side and heading towards Valley.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and abandoned it at few meters away from the naka. However, driver managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, five cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot. In this connection, a case FIR No. 22/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
In another similar incident, police party of PS Ghagwal also rescued five more bovines during naka checking at NHW Tapyal which were being transported in a Mahindra vehicle having Registration Number PB35Q-9810 moving towards Valley.
A case FIR No. 23/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
Later, a police party of Police Post, Rakh Amb-Talli while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka Rakh Amb-Talli Chowk, Samba rescued five bovines which were being transported in Mahindra vehicle via border road Samba towards Valley. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
A case FIR No. 44/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba and investigation taken up.
