Samba police rescues 17 bovines, arrests 2 smugglers

SAMBA, Mar, 23: District Police Samba has foiled two attempts to smuggle bovine by rescuing 17 animals in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal and Purmandal.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines towards Valley, a police party of PS Ghagwal laid a vehicle checking naka at NHW Tapyal and intercepted a truck bearing registered number JK09-4480 the driver however managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, 15 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 74/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Similarly in another incident, police party of Police Post, Utterbehni while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka Sangar, Utterbehni rescued two more bovines which were being transported in a load carrier vehicle having registration number JK02CN-1938 which was moving towards Mandal.
The accused persons identified as driver Saleem, son of Reham Din of Keuly, Bari Brahmana and his associate Sunil Kumar, son of Des Raj of Rajh Bagh, Kathua have been arrested on spot.
Both the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transportation of bovines was also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 08/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Purmandal and investigation started.
