Samba police rescues 19 bovine animals, arrests 2 smugglers

SAMBA, Feb 2: Continuing its drive against bovines smuggling, district police Samba foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by rescuing 19 bovine animals after arresting two smugglers in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal.
Police said that a team of PS Ghagwal, while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, Ghagwal signaled a truck bearing Registration Number, UP11AT-5912 which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley to stop.
On seeing the naka party, the driver accelerated the speed of vehicle and tried to fled away from the spot. But the alert cops after successful chase, apprehended the driver alongwith truck few metres away from the naka point.
During checking of the vehicle, 19 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. The accused driver identified as Mohammad Farman, S/o Israel Ahmad of Gali No. 25, Chand Colony, Saharanpur (UP) along with his associate Mohammad Aashu, S/o Irshad Ahmad R/o 264 Ibrahimbad, Kamela Road, Sharanpur (UP) have been arrested on spot.
All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting bovines was also seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 19/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
