Samba police rescues 19 bovines, arrests 2 smugglers

SAMBA Nov 11: District police Samba foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines by arresting two animal smuggler and rescuing 19 bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Ghagwal.
Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines towards Kashmir, a police party of PS Ghagwal laid a vehicle checking naka, at NHW, Tapyal and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02BM-5525 which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley.
During checking of the vehicle, 19 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. The bovines were concealed inside the truck under the cover of potato sacks to avoid being noticed by the police during checking.
The accused driver identified as Nisar Ahmad Khan, son of Gh Qadir Khan of Shangus Anantnag along with his associate Mohammad Aslam Chachi, son of Noor AlamChachi of Qazigund Anantnag have been arrested on spot. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicles used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
A case FIR No. 189/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
