Samba police rescues 28 bovines, arrests smuggler

SAMBA, Jan 21: In continuation to its drive against bovine smugglers, District Police Samba foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by arresting a bovine smuggler and rescuing 28 bovines in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Stations (PS) Samba and Ghagwal today.
A police party of PS Samba while performing vehicle checking duty at naka Sumb, signaled a dumper having Registration Number JK19C-2059 coming from Goran side and moving towards Samba to stop. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and abandoned the vehicle at few meters away from the naka point. During checking of the vehicle, 10 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission.
All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot. A case FIR No. 28/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands Registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
Later in another similar incident, police party of PS Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal intercepted a truck having Registration number JK02CC-7043 which was moving towards Valley. During checking of the said vehicle, a total 18 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission.
The accused driver identified as Mohammed Majid S/o Farooz Din R/o Degwar-Terwan, tehsil Haveli & district Poonch has been arrested on spot. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 17/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
