Samba police rescues 29 bovine animals, arrests smugglers

JAMMU, Apr 19: In its continuous drive against bovine smuggling, Police Party headed by Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO P/S Samba under the supervision of Varinder Singh, DySP HQ Samba, foiled a bovine smuggling bid by intercepting a truck bearing registration number JK02S/9755, coming from Kathua  and carrying 13 bovine animals which were being illegally transported.
The bovine smugglers namely Farooq Ahmed Dar S/o Ghulam Hassan Dar R/o By Pass Batote district Ramban were arrested and bovine animals were rescued. The police also  seized the vehicle and Case FIR No. 61/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Samba.
In another incident, Police Party headed by Inspector Yashpal Jamwal, SHO P/S Bari-Brahmna under the supervision of  Kulbir Handa, SDPO Bari-Brahmna, foiled a bovine smuggling bid by intercepting a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK02AK/6988, coming from Kathua and carrying a total of three bovine animals which were being illegally transported.
On seeing the Police naka at Bari-Brahmna, the driver of the  vehicle fled away under the cover of darkness, leaving the vehicle on spot much before the Police Naka. Accordingly, the bovine animals were rescued, vehicle seized and case FIR No. 43/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Bari-Brahmna and investigation carried on. Efforts are being on to nab the absconding driver.
Similar Police Team of Police Station Bari-Brahmna foiled another bovine smuggling bid carrying four bovine animals without permission and on seeing the Police party, the accused persons fled away under the cover of darkness. Accordingly, Case FIR No. 42/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Bari-Brahmna and investigation started.
Another Police Team of Police Station Ghagwal headed by Inspector Suraj Pathania, SHO Ghagwal arrested one Arshad S/o Fareed R/o Mantalai tehsil Chenani district Udhampur by intercepting a truck without registration number carrying nine bovine animals which were being illegally transported.
Accordingly, the vehicle was seized and a case under FIR No. 33/2016 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at P/S Ghagwal.
By foiling the bovine smuggling bids, district Police Samba has sent a strong message to the bovine smugglers to de-associate themselves from this illegal activity.
