Samooh Theatre organizes cultural, literary gala

JAMMU, Sept 8: Samooh Theatre organized mega cultural and literary event on the 150 birth commemoration of “Swami Vivekananda” at various places of Jammu.
The mega event commenced on August 31,  2014 with the lecture of Dr Sudhir Mahajan on the life and teaching of Swami Vivekananda.
Painting and elocution competition on the topic ‘How the teachings of Swami Vivekananda help me to solve the problems being faced in my life” was organized at Spring Blossom School, Lakar Mandi, Jammu.
The students of the various schools participated in the competition and the winners were awarded with the first, second, third and the consolation prizes distributed by the Dr Rama Sharma and Rajesh Gupta.
A lecture on Yoga was delivered by Shresh Jain, prominent social activist while a lecture on meditation and its techniques and benefit delivered by Dr Sudhir Mahajan and a devotional music programme was also organized in the second session at Spring Dales School, Krishna Nagar, Jammu.
The Artists who gave their scintillating performance included Sumit Bhardwaj, Pallvi Koul, Harshit Sharma and Suraj Sharma while Johny played the Harmonium and Satish Kumar accompanied on Tabla.
Dharmesh Nargotra, prominent singer of State also presented devotional song on this occasion, who mesmerized the students.
Gautam Kumar conducted the proceedings of the programme.
One day seminar on the teaching of Swami Vivekananda and its relevance in the contemporary times was organized here at Uniqe Public School, Jammu.
On this occasion, Swami Ekarthananda presened a key note address while Puran Chand, retired Headmaster and Dr Sudhir Mahajan presented theirs papers on the topic Swami Vivekananda message to humanity and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
A multilingual Mushaira was organized in the second session.
The poets who recited their poems were A K Bhat, Parshotam Sharma, Daya Ram Daya, Raj Kumar, Raman Sharma, Madhu Jalotra and Sudhir Mahajan.
A Play namely Mein Vivekananda written by Dr Sudhir Mahajan and directed by Ravinder Sharma was also presented during the event.
