Jammu, Aug 9: Samooh Theatre, in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Communication and the Department of Tourism, staged two impactful ‘Nukkad Nataks at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu. The event highlighted important social and cultural messages through the medium of street theatre, a powerful tool for community engagement.
The first play, titled “Vasudev Kutumbkam,” was a tribute to the ancient Indian sage Bharat Muni, the author of the Natyashastra. The play underscored the role of drama in fostering a sense of global family, promoting the idea that the world is one large family bound by shared values and cultural heritage.
The second play, titled “Green India, Clean India,” focused on the theme of cleanliness, addressing the critical issue of pollution and environmental degradation. The narrative depicted how human activities have polluted our motherland and rivers and it emphasized the importance of adopting measures like proper waste segregation using green and blue dustbins to restore the environment’s purity.
Both the plays were directed by Ravinder Sharma. The cast of both plays included Ravinder Sharma, Akash Katoch, Gorav Singh Manhas, Hetender Singh, Rohit Bains, Mukul Bains, Jhanvi Sharma, and Farhat Salim. The backstage work was efficiently managed by Yeshwinder Bali and Yogeshwar Singh, ensuring the smooth execution of the performances. The program was expertly anchored by Durga Parkash, who kept the audience engaged with his professional and dynamic presentation.
The event was well-received by the audience, who appreciated the creative efforts of the team in raising awareness about critical societal issues through the traditional yet effective medium of Nukkad Natak.
