Samoon inaugurates workshop on “On Farm Water Management”

JAMMU, Jan 28:  A 2-day workshop titled “On Farm Water Management” was organized by Horticulture Department under National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA).
Field functionaries from Agriculture, Horticulture, progressive farmers from Jammu division, scientists from SKUAST-Jammu, technical experts from companies dealing with installation of Micro-Irrigation System including Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd., Harvel Agua (I) Pvt. Ltd., Shalimar Enviro Pvt. Ltd., Swastik Agro and Netafilm were present on the occasion.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production Department.
Naresh Modi, Project Director, from National Committee on Plasticulture Applications in Horticulture (NCPAH), was the resource person for micro-irrigation and protected cultivation.
The workshop was attended by Director Horticulture, Anil Kumar Sharma, Director Floriculture, K.K. Sharma and Chief Executive Officer, IWDP Dr. G.H. Shah.
Dr. Samoon asked the representatives of the companies dealing with micro-irrigation to install the systems as per the field requirements. He informed that On Farm Water Management programme (OFWM) under NMSA has been approved for the State to the tune of Rs 5.39 crore.
Director Horticulture presented the progress achieved in the implementation of the programme and informed that Action Plan of Rs 42.19 lakhs has been approved for this programme under Horticulture sector of Jammu Division.
