JAMMU, July 9: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta here today chaired a meeting and discussed issues of weaker sections of society.
Dy. Mayor, Purnima Sharma; Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa; Chairperson Social Justice Standing Committee, Jeet Kumar Angral and Assistant Director (Adm), Social Welfare Department (SWD), Ranbireshwar Singh Jamwal and others were also present in the meeting.
The Mayor took the issue, with SWD, regarding sanctioning of at least 100 pension cases without any hassle on the recommendations by JMC Councillors for deserving people.
He also stressed on addressing the issues of scarcity of funds for State Marriage Assistance scheme and said that many families haven’t received any amount in this regard.
The Mayor further said that at least 5 scooties and 10 wheelchairs should be allotted to every Councillor for distribution among physically challenged people.
He also said that Social Justice Standing Committee (SJSC) must be involved in meetings and schemes so that it may also get the information about things of public benefit.
Officer from SWD assured the Mayor of all steps to redress genuine demands of the weaker sections of society.
