PURI, Mar 22 : Padma Shri awardee sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created sand art at Puri beach appealing to people to join the global movement to create the Biggest Hour for Earth.
Sudarsan lends his support as Goodwill champion for Earth Hour India 2024 through his sand art with the message “Give an hour for Earth.”
The sand artist, who has participated in more than 65 International sand art competitions and festivals around the world and won many prizes for the Country, said, “Earth Hour 2024 is our chance to urge people and communities across the world to take an hour to create a global moment of change.
It is a great opportunity for all of us to join the global movement this Earth Hour and work towards creating a sustainable and environmentally friendly future for generations to come,” he said.
The sand artist urged the people to join him on March 23 to spread the message far and wide, to compel more people to celebrate the hour and switch off all their non-essential lights.”
He further said the inspiration behind today’s art is to convey the message of switch-off to people across the country, especially in Tier II and III cities.
“We all must understand the perils of climate change and take on the responsibility to contribute positively towards the planet with our actions,” he remarked.
Sudarshan said supporters in over 190 countries and territories will create the Biggest Hour for Earth, part of WWF’s efforts to turn a single Earth Hour into thousands and millions of hours of action and awareness.
In doing so, the world’s largest grassroots environmental campaign will shine an unmissable global spotlight on the twin perils of nature loss and climate change.
At the same time, this year’s Earth Hour will also serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of our planet, the need to protect it, and how little time we have to do so, Sudarsan said. (UNI)
