NAGROTA, Aug 18: Nagrota Sangarash Samiti, an organisation of residents struggling for resumption of work on the college complex here, today expressed anguish over the muteness of the administration, lamenting that despite three weeks of sit-in-dharna, the Department of Higher Education remains dumbstruck to public protest.
“The administration is taking sadistic pleasure over people sitting on dharna in scorching heat, perplexing humidity and intermittent monsoon rains”, Block National Conference President Rameshwar Dutt said while leading the protestors sitting on dharna for the consecutive past 25 days.
He said there seems to be no issue or excuse in starting the work on the college complex as the site for the establishment of the degree college stands earmarked and, in fact, the Commissioner/ Secretary Higher Education having laid the foundation stone last year. He reiterated that inaction in carrying out the work is in fact belittling the decision of the State Administrative Council which had approved establishment of 40 new degree colleges, including two at Nagrota and Sidhra in the Constituency, for financial years 2019-20 and 2020-21.
He said that the Nagrota residents are determined in their resolve not to relent with regard to obtaining sit-in-dharna until the work starts on the complex. This is imperative as it involves the future of students who are craving for pursuing higher academics.
