JAMMU, Nov 18: Dr Sunita Sharma a multifaceted personality of the State who did her PhD in Music from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh in Chhatisgarh on the topic of “Analytical Study of traditional music related with Duggar culture under the supervision of Prof. Dr Bhushan Lal Koul a renowned musician of State was today conferred Sangeet Shree-2012 by the Nami Dogri Sanstha.
The award was conferred to her by Art Foundation at an impressive function held at K L Sehgal Hall here. Ashwani Sharma MLA Bishnah was the chief guest on the occasion and Ravi Magotra Programme head Radio Kashmir Jammu was the guest of honor.
D C Raina former Advocate General, J&K was the special invitee. Savita Bakshi Additional Secretary Cultural Academy, Jammu was the special guest. The function was presided over by S S Anand Lehar renowned Urdu short story writer and poet while Dogra Harish Kaila also shared the dais.
Ms Jagriti Shrivats read the paper on the contribution and services rendered to the society by Dr Sunita Sharma on her music, Dugar culture, literacy and social work.
Addressing the function Ashwani Sharma said that Dr Sunita Sharma is a great personality and she deserved the felicitation for her work in the field of literature and culture. The music and literature bring people nearer. The fine arts take out venomous attitudes of the people and make the society a better place to live in, he added. Ravi Magotra in his speech lauded artists involvement in the music and Duggar culture.
