KATRA, Dec 2: While giving ultimatum to the J&K administration against its proposed plan to construct ropeway from Tarakot to Sanji Chhat upto December 15 for resuming agitation, Shri Mata Vaidhnodevi Sangharsh Samiti today justified its remarks against Shrine Board for comparing it with the East India Company.
While talking to media persons at Katra today, one of the members, Karan Singh spearheading the agitation said their remarks during speeches over agitation to compare Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board with the East India Company were justified. He said East India Company of the Britishers came to India for the purpose of trade. But the Shrine Board was created for the welfare of the pilgrims, development of the area and extending facilities to the people of Katra. But instead of this, the Board has been behaving like company for its own welfare and not the public.
Singh said the main old traditional gate of the Cave at Bhawan has been closed for the pilgrims. It is hardly opened for 10- 15 days in a year. There is no development in the town. Lanes and drains are in poor state. There are no proper street lights in the entire town as well. He claimed that local MLA (Baldev Raj) has given a legal notice and filed report against the people of Sangharsh Samiti. He is working on the behest of Shrine Board and the Administration and not for the welfare of over 1000 people (Ponywallas/Pithus) who will lose their job with the proposed Ropeway project. He teases those carrying out agitation over Ropeway project, the Samiti member alleged.
Singh reminded the Administration and the Shrine Board authorities of their 15 days’ ultimatum, to roll back on the proposed Ropeway project, otherwise, Sangharsh Samiti will intensify agitation.
