JAMMU, July 15: BJP senior leader and JMC councilor, Ward No 41, Sanjay Kumar Baru today demanded widening of the Talab Tillo road near Poonch House.
The demand was raised by him before the authorities while conducting an extensive tour of Talab Tillo road along with Jammu Smart City, General Manager, Er. Sham Lal Kapoor, BJP leader Rahul Nargotra and others prominent were accompanying him.
Sanjay Baru raised the issue of congested Talab Tillo road especially near Kamla Palace Link Road, Poonch House with the General Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited. He pointed out that there is an adjacent huge chunk of land lying vacant, which belongs to the Estate Department. He said that the above-mentioned land can be utilized for increasing the width of Talab Tillo road. He stressed that the Talab Tillo road witnesses huge traffic load, severe traffic jams, and the road, if widened, will provide huge relief to the commuters as well as the locals.
During the tour, they also inspected the ongoing construction work of footpaths and drains right from Patta Chungi to Jewel Chowk initiated under the Smart City Project with the estimated cost of Rs 20 crore.
They also interacted with the locals and the owners of the shops in the adjacent market. The locals shared their grievances regarding the long traffic jams due to congested road. They also raised the issue of construction material lying on the roadside which is causing nuisance to the commuters and the locals.
Sanjay Baru also appealed to the local shopkeepers to cooperate in the construction works initiated under the Smart City Project. He also asked the contractors working under the project as well as the officials involved to work with utmost caution and without causing any inconvenience to the masses.
The General Manager assured the leaders and the masses that all issues will be taken into consideration and the works will be done with the caution that nobody gets troubled.
AEE Smart City, Ravi Salgotra, Parveen Ghai, Raj Kumar, Booth president Ramesh Sharma, Arun Khajuria, Ashok Sharma, Praval Sharma, Ruby Singh, Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Parveen Kumar, Balbir Singh and local shopkeepers were also present on the occasion.
