Sanjay Singh, ND Gupta & Swati Maliwal elected to RS

NEW DELHI, Jan 12 : The three nominees of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)- former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal, Senior leaders Sanjay Singh and Narain Das Gupta have been elected as members of Rajya Sabha on Friday, officials said.

The leaders have been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Delhi.

The party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in a social media post on X, extended congratulations to the leaders saying, “I am confident that you will strongly raise the issues of the common man in Parliament and fight for the rights of the people of Delhi.”

The results have been declared before the scheduled election on January 19.

The party, on January 5, nominated three candidates for Rajya Sabha. Maliwal was nominated in place of Sushil Gupta. She resigned from her post as DCW chairperson after being nominated to Rajya Sabha by the party. It renominated Sanjay Singh and N.D. Gupta as their six-year term ends on January 27. (UNI)
