KATRA, Jan 27: The leaders and representatives of Jammu Newspapers Vendors’ Association (JMVA) and All India Newspapers Distributors’ Welfare Association (AINDWA) held a one-day national conference, here today, wherein Sanjeev Kerni was nominated as chairman of AINDWA.
Besides, Babbar Singh Chouhan was elected as president of AINDWA and Surinder Yadav of Kanpur was elected as general secretary. During the meeting, various issues related to Newspaper vendors were discussed thoroughly and problems being faced by them in the State as well as across the nation were deliberated upon.
SMDVSB Additional CEO, M Kumar, Additional SP Katra, Ramesh Singh, SDM Katra, Neelam Khajuria, AINDWA president, Pandey, general secretary, Prabodh Jamwal (Editor-in Chief, Kashmir Times), Nirdosh Uppal, Comrade Ram Sudhir and other prominent persons were also present on the occasion.
The speakers demanded a status separate from that of hawkers for the newspaper vendors and requested the authorities to treat their business as an essential service. They further highlighted the condition of newspaper distributors and asked them to unite so that issues of newspaper vendors can be put forth in front of concerned Government officials.
