Saraf demands IDP status for Pandits

JAMMU, May 30: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Yuva president and Party spokesperson Sanjay Saraf has strongly advocated for grant of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) status to displaced Kashmiri Pandits leading an exiled life for over last 26 years in their own country.
“Kashmiri Pandits have left their homes and hearths in 1989-90 because of turbulent /disturbance and militancy in Valley so they can’t be treated as migrants within their State”, Saraf told reporters here, today. He demanded that the migrant tag should be removed as they are internally displaced persons of same State and same country.
Mr Saraf has made an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of KPs in this regard and urged him that this tag be removed by granting the IDP status to the Kashmiri migrants.
He said a package of Rs 11.75 crore has been released for ration of Kashmiri IDPs. Besides supply of ration will also be streamlined as there are general complaints that people are not getting proper ration from public distribution system for the last few months.
Sanjay Saraf has also made appeal to Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to look into the electricity problems and power cuts being faced by the people in this hot Summer. He expressed concern over the bad condition of roads especially in Jammu City and demanded that the renovation of roads be taken up in hand on war footing basis in view of the coming holy Amarnath yatra and ongoing Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.
Saraf said that LJP is working for the betterment of people all over the country and made an appeal to party cadres to visit every nook and corner of the State and have a close liaison with people.
