Sargam enthralls music lovers in ICF programme

JAMMU, Oct 9: Sargam Sharma enthralled the music lovers in a scintillating musical programme organized by Indian Cultural Forum (ICF), here today.
Sargam, who is pursuing her higher studies at Munich, Germany, is in town for her vacations. She’s a disciple of veteran singer and music director Sham Sajan and an integral part of ICF family.
Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu (JU) was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof Rita Jitendra, former secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), presided over the programme. Neeru Sharma, president, J&K Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, was the guest of honour.
Sargam presented six songs in the programme that included four songs in Dogri and two Urdu Ghazals. She began her recital with Vijaya Thakur’s Dogri song ‘Jehde utare nadiyain andar, O hoyi bhi jande paar’. Her second presentation was Betab Meeruthi’s ghazal ‘Sataayenge jab un ko gham dheere dheere’.
Padma Sachdev’s song, filled with pathos, ‘Dhann jigre maavain de, sauhre bhejiyaan jaayiyaan’ was her next song that she presented with great feeling.  Shaaz Tamkanat’s classic ghazal ‘Kab rut phire kab gul khile, hum ko pata kuchh bhi nahi’ was next in line that received thunderous applause from the audience.
Two songs in Dogri ‘Ratt ni auni inni gall manaande mukkeya’ written by Surjit Hosh Badsali and ‘Chaar din behde diyaan shaan baabla’ by Bishan Singh Dardi were the concluding items of the programme which Sargam sang with such depth, tenderness and emotion that these brought tears in the eyes of the audience.
Sham Sajan had composed all the songs of the programme and he accompanied the singer on Harmonium. Anil Raina on flute and Kuldip Kapoor on Tabla provided ample evidence of their mastry over their respective instruments.
Earlier, Prof Lalit Magotra in his welcome address highlighted the activities of the forum and emphasized that the organization is committed to continue organizing such programmes in future also.
