KISHTWAR, July 11: Seeking scrapping of the university examinations Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) senior leader and former minister GM Saroori has appealed to the Government to go for mass promotion of students or conduct evaluation on the orevious performance in internals or previous years semesters in J&K in view of COVID pandemic.
Condemning the decision of scheduling any examination at the university level, Saroori said that the students are being put at risk by the authorities avoiding circumstances, it may lead during the ongoing COVID situation in the Union Territory. He said that the Government must ensure that the norms set to control COVID should also be observed by the Government departments and Educational institutions.
However, the opposite is happening in Jammu and Kashmir. He alleged and questioned the intention of scheduling any examination at the university level when the coronavirus is taking lives every day and the number of infected persons has increased in thousands. “The focus should be on controlling the situation instead of putting risk to the lives of the youth who are the future of the country,” he said, asking the Higher Education Department to reconsider their decision.
The former Minister said that the students should be passed to the next class. “Is it possible for the students of Jammu and Kashmir to take an online examination where 2G internet services have become their fate?” he questioned and said the Government should not impose its decision.
Saroori demanded that the 4G internet services should be restored in Jammu and Kashmir for the good of all including students, traders and professionals doing online work so that the students do not suffer as well as employment activities continue.
