JAMMU, Feb 7: Panches and Sarpanches of Arnia area near here staged a protest demonstration today at Tehsil office demanding compensation to crop losses for the years 2019 and 2021.
The protest was led by BJP Spokesman, Rakesh Pant and the protesters raised slogans in favour of their demands.
They threatened to lock the Tehsil office if their demand is not conceded within three days.
Pant told reporters that certain farmers are not given compensation while corrupt means were adopted to give compensation to a few farmers.
“The Patwari (revenue officials) asks for commission while forwarding the case of compensation to his higher ups,” he alleged adding if PM Modi can send crores of rupees to the accounts of farmers in a single click then why the Tehsil administration is taking time in compensating the farmers.
Sarpanch Kool, Subash Saini; Panch, Suresh Chowdhary; Mohinder Saini, Garnadi Singh and others were also present in the protest.
