RAMNAGAR, May 11: Up in arms against the alleged irregularities in Rural Development Department, Sarpanches and Panches of Tehsil Majalta protested against the RDD authorities and locked down the BDO office at Khoon.
Sarpanches and Panches, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted various issues which included pendency of bills from months together, non-drawal of bills, commission culture and non- cooperation from the departmental officers, which forced them to resort to this extreme step.
Former MLA and State BJP spokesperson, Ranbir Singh Pathania, also joined the protesting Panches, Sarpanches and called for an immediate high level enquiry in to the alleged high handedness, commission culture and pendency/ non-drawal of bills.
The protest, led by Nirmal Kesar, State youth president of All J&K Panchayat Conference, was attended by Soma Devi, Surinder Singh, Raman Sharma, Feroz Din, Raj Kumar, Romesh Gupta, Chain Singh, Mohan Lal , Kewal Kumar, Nirmal Kesar, (all Sarpanches), Panches and prominent people of the area. The protest culminated after RDD Commissioner, Director RDD and Deputy Commissioner Udhampur were apprised of the factual situation through a memorandum. In the memorandum, they demanded a detailed inquiry on pending bills .
