Sarpanchs, Panchs delegation meets DDC Kathua

KATHUA, July 9: A delegation of Sarpanchs and Panchs of Koota area of Hiranagar and Panchayat Halqa Gora Block Hiranagar called on District Development Commissioner, Kathua Jitendra Singh and submitted a memorandum to him expressing their objections to the Government move to start field firing in the villages of Gaids, Badoli, Chick, Katli, Parangoli etc in Hiranagar tehsil.
The memorandum demanded that people in these areas will be put to many problems as houses and other immovable property will be damaged constantly. This way the people especially farmers in these villages are put to huge financial loss. The poor farmers crops will also damaged and they have no source of income except agriculture.
The delegation which was led by Koota Sarpanch Sri Kant and Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa Gare B Lal said that there are 15 to 20 schools in the area and due to firing the studies of the students will also be affected. Moreover people lack toilet facilities in their houses and they go outside for natural call and in case firing, the people will be put to hardships.
The delegation further said that the sounds caused by firing will lead to problems to heart patients in the area and there is every apprehension that they may suffer a stroke with the deafening noise of firing. Besides the firing smoke may have obnoxious affect on the environment in the area and thereby affecting the health of the people.
Moreover, the small farmers will lose their livelihood in case the firing takes place in the area, the memorandum added.
