Sarpanchs, Panchs discuss demands

JAMMU, Apr 30: A meeting of Sarpanch and Panchs of block Marh was held to discuss the problems being faced by them in the State in general and in their areas in particular.
The Sarpanchs and Panchs charged the State Government with not taking the problems of panchayats and alleged that various orders for devolution of powers to panchayats have remained on papers only.
The meeting alleged that State Government has not conferred any financial power for executing of assest and Panchayat have been limited for supervision purpose only. During last year it was intimated that formulation of plans like BADP, CD Panchyat and other allied schemes in the block shall be prepared by Panchayats from 2012-13 but no order has been issued yet in this behalf.
Other issues discussed were regarding Irrigation, PDD, command area and CAPD, as these departments are not cooperating with Panchayats, HOD of various departments have not issued order to their subordinate staff working in villages to get a certificate from Panchayat for proper functioning of their duties and performances in villages.
The sarpanchs and Panchs have once again appealed the Government to remain firm on the commitments for devolution of powers to Panchayat for immediate implementation.
Those present in the meeting included Ashwani Sharma (Sangrampur), Rajinder Sharma (Flora Nagbani), Sham Lal (Saharan), Charan Dass (Dhaterial), Sat Paul (Gangu Chack), Narinder Singh (Jaswan) Virender Singh (Akalpur), Raj Kumar (Tarlokpur),  Sanjeev Singh (Rathora), Vinod Kumar and others.
