JAMMU, May 8: Sarpanchs and Panchs of about 16 panchayats of Suchetgarh constituency today held a strong protest demonstration in front of the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal demanding shifting of Tehsil office of Suchetgarh to a suitable place.
A large numbers of Sarpanchs and Panchs of Suchetgarh tehsil under the leadership of Sarpanch Dev Raj today assembled in front of the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and raised slogans in support of their demand of shifting of new Tehsil office of Suchetgarh from Kotli to a suitable place.
They alleged that the KotIi area is very close to the international border and in view of frequent ceasefire violations by the Pakistan it will be not safe for the people to go for their revenue related works to this office. They therefore demanded the Divisional Commissioner to issue orders of shifting of the tehsil office of Suchetgarh to a safe and suitable place.
Later, the protestors submitted a memorandum of demands to the Divisional Commissioner, who assured them favourable action soon.
