Sat announces Rs 18 lakh for Bhagwati Nagar cremation ground

JAMMU, Oct 15: State president BJP and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) has asked the officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and start works on construction, repairs, renovations at cremation ground, Bhagwati Nagar near fourth bridge in Ward Number 14 of the Constituency. Accompanied by JMC officials, the MLA visited the area and a large number of people hailing from the area and several political activists were also present on the occasion.
The works will be taken up under the supervision of JMC and fitting of bathrooms for ladies and gents, construction of sheds, installation of a new gate and seating arrangement for visitors will be constructed under the same project. The total cost estimated for the works are Rs 18 lakh and the amount has been given by the MLA from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said that the condition of the cremation ground was not upto the mark and many people also complained about the same. So, keeping in view the interests of public and the works had to be taken up in hand immediately.
He also urged the concerned authorities to prepare estimates for construction of a hall also in the premises of Cremation Ground and stated that any amount of extra fund required by the Corporation for the further Construction will also be given, if needed.
Sharma said that such places hold a very religious importance in our culture and it should be our priority to maintain them and keep them in a good condition as people in bulk visit such places daily.
The BJP President said that works have been taken up in Shakti Nagar and Revenue Complex area Shamshan Ghats and the repairs and construction works of other Shamshan Ghats in Jammu West will also be taken up soon, in order to provide best possible assistance to the masses.
Executive Engineer, JMC Parbodh Sharma, AEE JP Saraf, JE BK Raina, Purshottam Kumar Sanitation Officer, Parmodh Kapahi, Ayodhya Gupta, Jeet Angral, Sanjeev Sharma and others were present on the occasion.
