JAMMU, Apr 7: State BJP president and MLA Sat Sharma today toured the areas where the famous Baisakhi Mela is going to be organized on April 12 and reviewed the arrangements for the mela.
Officials from various departments including Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Power Development Department (PDD), Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) and Public Works Department (PWD) accompanied the MLA. A large number of people including local residents and political activists also accompanied the BJP leader during his visit.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said that the whole team of Utsav Celebration Committee is working with full dedication as this Mela is first of its kind which is being organized in Jammu West Constituency from the last two years and many tourists are expected to visit the venue to boost its presence in the State.
Sharma reviewed the arrangements for cleanliness, roads, lighting, traffic, maintenance of parks, civil works and various other necessary requirements for the fair. He asked the officials of the concerned departments to help out in every possible way so that the public might not face any problems.
He said that a separate committee has been formed which will look after the preparations of the programme which will start from April 12 in the Constituency.
The State BJP president stated that Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, will be present on the occasion to inaugurate the Mela in the presence of thousands of people.
Pitching his concern, the MLA said that it should have been the duty of Tourism Department to help out in various matters pertaining to the arrangements of the fair but none of the officials have visited the spot which is matter of great concern.
