SRINAGAR, Mar 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Union Territory president Sat Sharma today said that Pakistan is disturbed by the overwhelming participation of people in the democratic process and is attempting to disrupt peace in Kashmir by orchestrating “untoward incidents.”
Sharma made these remarks in Wooder Kangan, Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, where he visited to offer condolences to the family of former MLA Faqir Mohammad Khan, a senior BJP leader who recently passed away at his official residence in Tulsibagh, Srinagar. He was accompanied by BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul.
Sharma accused Pakistan of repeatedly attempting to destabilize Kashmir, despite suffering defeats in the wars of 1965, 1971, and 1999. “They have always tried to disrupt peace, but our soldiers have defended the country and ensured stability,” he said.
He emphasized that the recent elections were conducted peacefully, with massive public participation. “This is what concerns Pakistan, and that is why they are trying to create disturbances. But like before, they will be unsuccessful this time as well,” Sharma added.
The BJP leadership described Khan’s death as a significant loss for the party and Jammu and Kashmir as a whole. Sharma assured that the circumstances surrounding his death would be fairly investigated. “The Bharatiya Janata Party stands firmly with the bereaved family in this difficult time and extends its deepest condolences,” he said.
