JAMMU, Oct 17: In order to provide basic facilities to the residents of Jammu West, State Vice President BJP and MLA Sat Sharma (CA) inaugurated newly constructed community hall at Ward Number 35 near Shiv Temple in Shant Nagar area of Janipur.
Accompanied by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) officials, Sharma inaugurated the hall in the presence of scores of people including social and political activists of the area and people hailing from all walks of life.
The works are being taken up under the supervision of JMC in which an amount of Rs Five lakhs have been contributed from CDF (Constituency Development Fund) scheme of the MLA and rest expenditure have been incurred by the Department. The total cost of the construction has been estimated around Rupees 40 lakhs.
Sat Sharma said that it was a long pending demand of the residents of the Janipur area and the same has been met so that basic facilities could be provided to the masses at lowest cost possible.
He said that the construction of the Hall was an initiative which was taken up by senior BJP leader and former MLA Chaman Lal Gupta and he contributed an amount of Rs Five lakhs for the same and the rest expenditure has been incurred by the Corporation which is a laudable effort from the side of the Department.
He said that the community hall will cater to the needs of the people of the area and any sort of function or other program can be done in the same and that too at a reasonable prices and it will also be seen that people who cannot afford to pay will also be provided every facility possible at concessional rates or free.
The MLA also started the work of repairing of lane by premixing in Shant Nagar area at an estimated cost of Rs One lakh.
Jt. Commissioner Works JMC Kushal Chand, XEn Parvodh Sharma, AEE Rajiv Pandor and others accompanied the MLA.
